Briefly touched on the Philips, Craig & Dean controversy regarding performing for the SBC this summer (offering a simple question for PC&D to answer); then talked about Benny Hinn and Michael Brown, and finished up playing and responding to comments by Shawn McCraney on Calvinism. Shawn wrote today and said he’d like to call in so we can talk about this, for which I am very grateful! I look forward to that interaction.

The dangers of Ecumenism – there is power in the unity of the church, but there must not be compromise at the cost of truth.
Almost went two hours today (sorry!), but we went in depth in our response to Trent Horn on the subject of Augustine’s allegedly saying, “Rome has spoken, the case is closed.” That took up the vast majority of our time (including looking at the “I would not believe the gospel except for the testimony of the Catholic Church” quote), but
Dealt with a number of articles on the program today from a stack of articles I had thrown into Evernote, including dealing with the decline in religious freedom, the Pope and indulgences, Muslim nations banning Christmas—even a few words on Piper’s controversial article about Christians and self-defense. Spent a little time at the start talking about the use of “projection” as an invalid means of argumentation, and then showed a video of a Marian procession from Spain and talked about the relevance to the gospel to such scenes. Then made connection to the recent Crusader controversy.
Started off with comments on tomorrow’s Dr. Drew Show, then did a reading/review of Jordan Cooper’s article about the ESV, and then managed just a few minutes more review of Anjem Choudary. We will be doing a DL, Lord willing, “on the fly” on Wednesday when I return from California, if possible. We will have to announce the time once
Had a great time talking with John Cooper of Skillet today about his book, life, music, regrets, and victories. Really encouraging. Having some blocking issues (we played some music and the algorithms got us again!) but they should be cleared up fairly quickly since we submitted the clearance for them many hours before we did the show.

Jeff talked about addiction to drugs and alcohol and how we can be effective in our ministry with people struggling with addictions. I’m especially looking forward to hearing the interaction with Mr. McCraney. I was surprised and taken aback by some of his comments so I’m very much looking forward to hearing what he has to say.
The fact that so many are rejoicing over PC&D signing the BF&M2000 just shows that [A] the Southern Baptists have been exceedingly lax at teaching doctrine, and [B] that how to spot non-Trinitarian heresies is not near common enough among pastors and denominational leaders.
